
Fr. Pius James D’Souza OCD
Fr. Pius James D’Souza is a Discalced Carmelite priest from Mangalore,
India. Having won gold medals (BA and MA) in English literature from the
Mysore University, India he acquired also a Master’s degree in
Philosophy from the Karnataka University, Dharwad, India. He has a
Licentiate in Sacred Scripture from the Pontifical Biblical Institute,
Rome and his Ph.D in Biblical Theology from the Gregorian University,
Rome. Presently he is the Superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery, Mangalore.

Fr. Deepak Joseph Tauro OCD
Fr. Deepak Joseph Tauro, a member of the Karnataka-Goa province of the
Order of Discalced Carmelites, hails from the Sacred Heart Parish,
Madanthyar, of the diocese of Mangalore. Ordained priest on December 30,
2000, he served as the formator of our PUC students for three years at
Ashadeepa, Madanthyar, before proceeding to do his specialisation in
Patristic Sciences at the Institute of Augustinianum, Rome. Having
obtained a Licentiate in Patristics, (Fathers of the Church) he accepted
the invitation to serve in our Carmelite Missions of Tanzania as the
formator of the students of philosophy and theology from 2008 to 2011.
He also holds a Masters in Philosophy from the Karnatak University,
Dharwad and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from the University of
Madras. Currently he is the formator of our theology students at St.
Joseph’s monastery/Infant Jesus Shrine, Carmel Hill, Mangalore.

Br.
Baptist Rodrigues OCD
Br. Baptist Rodrigues hails from St. Micheal Church, Bellore. Realizing
his vocation to Religious Life he made his First Profession 19th March,
1969. As a member of the Order he has served the Communities at
Koteshwar and Madanthyar. At present he is at St. Joseph’s Monastery,
Mangalore.

Fr. Melvin
D’Cunha OCD
Fr. Melvin D’Cunha was born on 28th May, 1967 at Madanthyar, Mangalore.
He joined the Carmelite Order (O.C.D.) in 1985 and made his first
profession in Margao, Goa on October 15, 1988. He graduated (B.A.) from
the Mysore University in 1991. His studies in Philosophy were done in
Pusphosrama, Mysore and Theology at St. Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu,
Mangalore.
After the Ordination on April 23, 1996 he served as Assistant Parish
Priest at St. Joseph’s Church, Mira Road, Bombay. Later, from 20th Dec,
2000 to 15th Feb, 2010 he served in the Kuwait Vicariate In September
2006, Fr. Melvin the current Parish Priest of the Holy Family Cathedral,
was appointed as the new Superior of the Carmelite Mission in Kuwait, by
the Father General of the Carmelite Order in Rome.
Presently he is shouldering the responsibility of building a new Church
at Bajjodi, Mangalore dedicated to Infant Mary.

Fr. Elias
D’souza OCD
Fr. Elias D’souza was born in Madanthyar on 28th December 1972. He
joined the Carmelite order in 1989. After his seminary studies at St.
Joseph’s Diocesan Seminary, Mangalore he was ordained a Priest on 28th
of December 2002. He obtained his Masters in Philosophy from Mumbai
University. He served as Asst. Parish Priest in St. Joseph’s Parish,
Mira Road. He was appointed Director of Carmel Seva Sadana Hoovina
Hadagali, Bellary Dist. At Present he is the Director of Infant Jesus
Shrine, Mangalore.

Fr. Deep
Fernandes OCD
Fr. Deep Fernades from Fajir, Mangalore was born on 21st May, 1976. He
joined the Carmelite Order and professed his Religious vows on 14th
December, 1996. After the completing his Theological studies at St.
Josephs’ Inter-diocesan Seminary at Jeppu, Mangalore he was ordained on
28th December, 2004. Later he served as the Formator of students at Asha
Deepa and presently he is the Vocation Promoter along with the office of
Delegate Provincial to the Secular Carmelites.

Stephen Alwyn Pereira OCD
Fr. Stephen Alwyn Pereira born on 16th Jan, 1981, made his First
Religious Commitment in the Carmelite Order in 2000. Having obtained BPh
from Pushpashrama, Institute of Philosophy and Religion, Mysore and BSc-
Psychology from the University of Madras, he spent a year in Jagalur,
Davanagere Mission Station. He joined St. Peter’s Pontifical Seminary,
Bangalore for his Theological studies in 2005. During this time he
served at St. John the Baptist Church, Vijaynagar, Bangalore. Having
ordained Priest in 2009, he was appointed as Asst. Editor to Naman
Ballok Jesu a Konkanni monthly published by the Infant Jesus Shrine,
Mangalore. Presently he serves as the Chief Editor of the same. Fr.
Stephen has two books in Kannada to his credit namely, Carmel Suma –
Biography of all the Carmelite Saints and Yesuvinondige Kalvariyedege –
7 Creative reflections for Stations of the Cross.
